Whether you’re visiting or are a full time resident, summer on the coast is a magic time.
Here are a few of our family’s favourite activities and hang outs:
- The Davis Bay Sandcastle Competition July 27th . Always an awesome and impressive day at the beach.
- Night Time Swims with Bioluminescence. There’s nothing quite like cooling off with a night time dip and seeing the water start to glow around you. If you’ve never tried, this, it’s 100% worth staying up 🙂
- Hiking the Skookumchuck Narrows to see the rapids & of course grabbing treats at the famous Skookumchuck Bakery for fuel.
- Speaking of fuel, no summer is complete with out packing a picnic of fish and chips from Sharkey’s Fish Locker . Time your visit with low tide down at Flume Beach and you’ve got a perfect summer day.
- Hit up some local events. From outdoor movie nights & Friday night concerts at Sunday Cider to Coast Hosts Rock N Roll Bingo and Bob Ross Painting Nights, there’s a quirky coastal event for everyone.
- And speaking of classic coastal institutions, it doesn’t get more local than Creek Daze , the annual late summer Roberts Creek festival, starting with the beloved Higgledy Piggledy Parade and carrying on all day with music food, art and games. Bring the whole gang.
There’s nothing I love more than talking about all of our fantastic local businesses and organizations that make the coast so special. If you’re ever looking for a recommendation, just reach out!
